In response to recent monsoon flooding in Sri Lanka, The Salvation Army has provided relief supplies and comfort to thousands of displaced people. The flooding saw some 200 people lose their lives and destroyed 1,500 homes, with many more damaged by the storms themselves.
In addition to providing relief supplies, The Salvation Army kick started joint efforts with local authorities, as well as other global humanitarian organizations, to assist in the cleanup efforts. In his comments, Salvation Army Secretary for Business Administration Captain Felix Kumaravel said that the ultimate goal of these projects is to restore the affected areas of Sri Lanka to habitability.
